E-Learning Instructional Designer

Location: Arlington, VA
Travel: Occasional Travel Possible

Position Summary

The instructional designer will join our education team to enrich our online learning. He or she will focus on designing online courses in our learning management system to give our clients skills that help them effectively use our systems, processes and tools.


  • Create and deliver all online courses and educational products
  • Ensure online educational program materials are kept current
  • Partner with staff and clients to understand and analyze learning needs
  • Design and develop training curriculum using appropriate instructional development methods
  • Facilitate tests and pilot sessions to assess and ensure effective learning of objectives


  • Proven experience working with an online LMS
  • Fluency with course development tools such as Captivate and Articulate
  • Demonstrated mastery of the Successive Approximation Model
  • Working knowledge of learner-centered design principles
  • Understanding of Kirkpatrick methodology for training evaluation
  • Understanding of information architecture concepts and how to apply them
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design and blended learning technique
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning theory
  • Advanced visual design abilities with a mastery of visual representation of complex concepts
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at once
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or related field required. Master’s Degree or certificate preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in related field
