One of the most important community management strategies is developing a shared purpose. Strong communities with unified goals: - Drive value for your business and your customers. - Give you market insights, shaping where you invest and focus. - Directly support your biggest strategic goals. - Lower market risks and volatility. But aligning the interests of key stakeholders - your CEO, other departments, members, partners - and getting buy-in can be challenging. And if you don’t have everyone on board, you risk community being sidelined (or worse, cut from your budget). So, if you lead a community (or want to incorporate one), how do you explain all the ways community can benefit business objectives? Learn how to make your case during Higher Logic's May 16 webinar! Leading community expert Rachel Happe, who you may know from her work with Engaged Organizations and The Community Roundtable, will be sharing tips from over a decade of research on community practices. Rachel has worked with big names like EA, Microsoft, and the World Bank Group, and she can help your organization actualize the many benefits of community! Register (for free) at the link below 👇.

What does it mean to build a community of customers? I recently got to sit down with 🗺️ Todd Kirk from BrainStorm Inc. to discuss the power of building a customer community. This was such a fun opportunity to share my insights and tips for how to build these communities and relationships. A community can expand the reach of customer success and provide a space for customers to collaborate and share insights. Even if your events are your biggest programs of the year, it’s unlikely that ALL of your association members can attend in-person. But, it’s safe to say that almost all (if not all) of your members are online. 💻 So online communities are perfectly positioned to help you meet members where they are. "We think about our members all the time, but they're not always thinking about us - they think about us when they need us. So we need to meet them where they’re at when they have a need or are looking for connection and make sure we have an option for them.” Higher Logic customer Diana Tavares Mertz, CAE from the American Staffing Association joined us on an episode of the Member Engagement Show to share all the ways their 10-year-strong online community has improved member engagement, volunteerism, and more. 🎧👇 Tune in for tips on: - Keeping long-time communities fresh and engaged. - Orienting members to your community. - Realizing your community’s value across your organization --- #associations #memberengagement #community

We talk a lot about learning how to USE AI to improve your productivity – but what about PROTECTING your users, customers, and organization from AI? One of the biggest concerns for online sites today is the unauthorized collection of data by generative AI bots to train AI models. Data like the data you have in your online community. Generative AI crawlers present several risks to the health of online communities, including around: - IP and privacy issues - User engagement and traffic - Content integrity - Security So, should you block generative AI Bots from crawling your online community? It depends. Not all communities view AI bot crawlers in the same light. Your decision should be informed by your specific goals and the nature of your community. Learn more from Matthew Crouse, Higher Logic Vanilla’s director of product engineering in his recent blog post: Generative AI Bots Are Harvesting Your Online Community’s Data—Here’s What You Can Do About It. --- #AI #community
