The Value of Bullshit-Free Writing

Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 2PM Eastern

Thought Leader: Josh Bernoff (@jbernoff), Chief Troublemaker, WOBS

It’s time to develop a new discipline for writing and communicating on a screen. Based on his upcoming book, “Writing Without Bullshit,” author and thought leader Josh Bernoff presents the strengths and advantages to clear writing.

No matter your community role, you need a different perspective when you’re writing for people staring at a screen all day (and nowadays, that’s pretty much everything we write). Your readers have computer and phone screens that are noisy, distracting places. Concentration is difficult, but bullshit-free writing can solve the attention deficit.

Learn Josh's top tips for writing community posts, emails, blogs and anything else in a way that truly stands out:

  • Write short
  • Front-load your content
  • Kill attention wasters like jargon and passive voice

Volunteers: The Air We Breathe

Thursday, April 7 at 2PM Eastern

Thought Leader: Peter Houstle, CEO, Mariner Management

April 10-16, 2016 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week…and because we love volunteers, we’re celebrating all month long. Join us on Thursday, April 7 at 2PM Eastern with thought leader Peter Houstle, CEO, Mariner Management. Volunteers are the indispensable human link to the professions and industries we serve. They are the air we breathe — subject matter experts, “free” labor, and our bosses. Too often we’re in a love-hate relationship, but it doesn’t have to be. This webinar will include an exploration of data and examples of how associations can make this relationship a true win-win. In this webinar, we’ll:

  • Real world examples of successful volunteer management programs for a variety of association sizes and structures;
  • Essential attributes of highly effective volunteer management systems that will work best for your association;
  • We'll answer your questions! So bring ‘em.
