Appointment reflects growing role of intelligent technology and AI in accelerating the AMC model and strengthening the association industry
ARLINGTON, VA — March 12, 2026— Higher Logic, an industry-leading community engagement platform for associations, today announced that Co-Founder and CEO Rob Wenger has been appointed to the AMC Institute (AMCI) Board of Directors as Technology Advisory Director. The appointment reflects the growing role of technology, data, and AI in shaping the future of association management companies (AMCs) and accelerating the impact of the associations they serve.
As Technology Advisory Director, Wenger will provide guidance on how emerging technologies—including AI, data platforms, and digital engagement strategies—can help AMCs scale their services and deliver stronger results for association clients.
AMCI represents 185 association management companies that collectively manage more than 3,200 associations—serving over 3.3 million members through full-service management and nearly 900 additional organizations on a project basis. Associations managed by AMCI members represent more than $1.9 billion in combined annual budgets. The organization is advancing an ambitious long-term vision: by 2050, AMCs will manage 50 percent of associations in their target market—a goal known as “50 by 50.” With AMCs already managing roughly 38 percent of associations in this segment, the industry is well positioned to accelerate that trajectory.
Wenger brings more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneurial founder and technology executive. He co-founded Higher Logic in 2007 and has built the company into a global technology leader serving thousands of organizations and millions of members across 42 countries. His appointment to the AMCI Board reflects a shared commitment to harnessing technology and AI to drive growth and elevate outcomes across the AMC sector.
“Association management companies are one of the most important and underrecognized forces shaping the future of the association world,” said Wenger. “They bring operational expertise, strategic leadership, and scalable business models that allow associations of all sizes to punch above their weight. What AMCI is doing—setting standards, investing in professional development, strengthening accreditation, and building a clear roadmap for industry growth—is exactly the kind of work that raises the bar for everyone.
“I’m joining this board because I believe deeply in the AMC model and in AMCI’s mission to expand it,” Wenger continued. “At Higher Logic, we’ve spent nearly two decades helping associations create smarter, more personalized member experiences. We’ve seen firsthand how the right technology can transform the way organizations engage their communities. AMCs are uniquely positioned to bring that transformation to thousands of associations that need it most. The ‘50 by 50’ vision isn’t just ambitious, it’s achievable, and technology and AI will be the accelerants that get us there. I’m excited to contribute to that work and to help shape the future of this industry.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Rob Wenger to the AMCI Board as our Technology Advisory Director,” said Tina Wehmeir, FASAE, CAE, President & CEO of the AMC Institute. “Rob brings more than three decades of entrepreneurial leadership and technology innovation to this role, along with a proven track record of transforming how associations and nonprofits engage their communities. His experience building Higher Logic into a global technology leader—along with his leadership in applying AI and data-driven innovation to member engagement—gives him a unique perspective on how digital strategy and intelligent technology can accelerate growth across the AMC sector.
“As AMCI advances our long-term ‘50 by 50’ vision and deepens our focus on market development, professional pathways, accreditation, and strategic partnerships, Rob’s insight will be invaluable,” Wehmeir continued. “He understands how technology and AI can strengthen business models, improve operational efficiency, and elevate client outcomes. We are fortunate to have his expertise guiding our work and helping shape the future of the industry.”
Wenger’s appointment comes as AMCI advances a refreshed strategic plan focused on four interconnected priorities: expanding awareness and adoption of the AMC model through market development, positioning the AMC sector as an attractive career destination through expanded professional development and credentialing, reinforcing accreditation as the gold standard for performance and accountability, and broadening AMCI’s reach through strategic industry partnerships.
